You can apply for a new drivers license online using the FRSC (Federal Road Safety Corps) registration portal. So, you don’t have to queue up at your local MLA, VIO, or DLC. FRSC Drivers License Requirements
- You must be 18 years or older
- An applicant must have completed a driving school program (mandatory) and has been issued a valid certificate
FRSC Drivers License Online Registration/Application Process
1. Complete the Online Application
- Go to www.nigeriadriverslicence.org/. This is the official FRSC drivers license application and payment portal
- At the top of the FRSC driver’s licence application page, click on Apply New
- Click on Apply Now.
- Select license type, either Motor Vehicle or Motorcycle
- When prompted, “Do you have an existing Motor Cycle/Tricycle Drivers Licence?” select No, I don’t have any licence
- On the next page, enter your Driving School Certificate number
- Fill in your personal details as required
- Select the type of licence you are applying for
- Make the online payment process to complete your online application
At this stage, you have completed the online portion of your driver’s licence application.
2. Visit Your Local Vehicle Inspection Office (VIO)
Go to the VIO for a driving test to demonstrate your driving skills. If you have not made your FRSC drivers license online registration payment, you can pay the licence fee at a bank. However, make sure you collect and keep the payment receipt because you’ll need it as your payment proof. You can confirm the payment at the State Board of Internal Revenue (BIR) office. Visit the State BIR Office with your payment receipt to confirm your payment.
3. Complete Your Biometric Data Capture
This is done by an FRSC Officer at the Driver’s Licence Centre (DLC) for biometric data capture. It involves taking your photograph and fingerprints. You are to come with your printed application form. However, some offices will only need your Application ID to access and print a copy themselves.
4. Pick Up Your Licence
Before you visit the DLC for pickup, make sure your license is ready. The FRSC has a tool for tracking your drivers license application tool. Visit www.nigeriadriverslicence.org/license/trackStatus and track your application from there.
Finally, visit your DLC, Motor Licensing Authority (MLA), or VIO with your completed application form or temporary card to collect your original driver’s licence card.
